New-born placed in baby window in Einsiedeln

A healthy new-born was placed in the baby window at Einsiedeln Hospital at 11:24 a.m. on August 27th, 2018. The little girl was born that very day and will remain at the hospital temporarily for further medical observation. The Ausserschwyz Child and Adult Protection Authority has been informed immediately. A guardian is now assuming the rights and obligations that normally apply to the child‘s parents. Particular care is being taken to ensure privacy for the baby and the mother.

The mother of the child may notify the Ausserschwyz Child and Adult Protection Authority (KESB) in Pfäffikon, Eichenstrasse 2, 8808 Pfäffikon, 041 819 14 60 / kesa@sz.ch or the Swiss Aid for Mother and Child (SHMK) Foundation to establish contact with the child. She is assured of absolute discretion and unbureaucratic assistance in efforts to decide on the best solution for her and the child.

The mother or father of the child has the right to reclaim the child until the adoption process is completed. This is conditional upon maternity/paternity being conclusively established and the conditions for assuming responsibility for the child being met. Adoption is possible after one year of guardianship and care by the prospective adoptive parents.
