7th Newborn Placed in Olten's Baby Window

On July 24th 2025, at 2:09 pm, another newborn was placed in the baby window at Olten Cantonal Hospital. The little boy is doing fine and is completely healthy. For a couple of days, he stayed in the hospital for further medical examinations. The Olten-Gösgen Child and Adult Protection Authority (KESB) has been informed. All institutions involved in the baby window attach great importance to ensuring that the privacy of the baby and the mother is protected.

This baby is the 7th to be placed in Olten's baby window and the 31st ever to be placed in a Swiss baby window. Dominik Müggler of the Swiss Aid for Mother and Child (SAMC), the organization that initiated the Swiss baby windows, says: "The mother brought her baby to a safe place. She should be commended for this. She has the right to request that her baby be returned to her. In doing so, she can count on the free material and financial support of the SAMC.

Three organizations cooperate in the running of the baby window in Olten: the cantonal hospital Olten, the local Child and Adult Protection Authority Olten-Gösgen (KESB), and the Swiss Aid for Mother and Child (SAMC). Around half of the mothers get in touch after placing their baby in the baby window to leave details of the parents' identity.
